About Me

Hey, look at that – you found me! Thank-you for taking the time to check out my portfolio and credentials; I really do appreciate it.

It’s too easy to become interested or captivated only by the process of project management without taking the time to learn about the person behind the effort. But can we really keep the process and the PM separate? I don’t think so and, I’ll bet, you don’t either – otherwise you wouldn’t be here, right?

In the meantime, who am I? I am a transplanted Canadian, having moved to Chicago in 1998 from Vancouver. The original reason for moving here has now been consigned to the annals of history; a reason no longer of any interest other than to be a starting point for where I am now.

In addition to being a technical project manager, I am a second-degree black belt in Goju-Shorei Karate and the head instructor at two of the Kids Karate Club program locations here in the Chicagoland area. I’m also an avid cook!

I’ve been fortunate to have spent my career in IT and come from the “soft side” of IT; the IT department’s “people person” (aka “unicorn”) that you’ve often heard about but rarely see. The one who enjoys speaking – and working – with people from various departments and roles. That’s one of the factors that has made me successful in my PM and CIO roles.

I hope you find some of the projects I’ve worked on and have listed here to be both of interest and relevance. Don’t forget to click the “Resume” link in the upper right and I hope you find that I am a good match for your organization.

Oh, and please follow me on Twitter (@DadAintHip) and Instagram (@robdomaschuk).
